Caring for the Pregnant Cat

Caring for the Pregnant Cat

The pregnant cat must eat four times a day. They often suffer from cost costiveness during the pregnancy, which is made better when you introduce oily fish (sardines or tuna fish) to her diet.

Continue with the sessions of embellishment but more carefully. On the eighth week of pregnancy, inspect daily her anal zone, due that the volume of the abdomen doesn’t permit the cat to cleanse herself all over. If necessary, wash the zone with a soft soap and a sponge damped in warm water, afterward dry the zone with a paper tissue.

Inspect also the nipples, and if you see crusts on them or if they are dried, hydrate with a bit of Vaseline.

At these heights we must assure ourselves that the cat still is interested on the box we have offered her or she will find her own. Put inside some of her best toys and, if there are children at home, encourage them to keep guard on her in case she goes to far from the box, making her go back to it without carrying her.

The signs that the birth is eminent includes the evident increase of volume of the mamma’s and the abdomen, and by the affection she shows towards the members of the family, more frequent visits to the sand tray and sometimes, a lack of appetite. At this stage it doesn’t matter that she doesn’t eat much but it is important for her to drink much liquid.
